JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The News4JAX Varsity 4 Super 6 high school volleyball rankings will be published each Wednesday during the regular season. Records are through Sept. 1 games.

1. (1) Beachside (7-0, Class 6A)
Quality wins: Bolles, South Walton, Trinity Christian.
Why they’re here: Beachside cruised to sweeps over Nease and Providence since our last Super 6. There’s what should be a good test at Middleburg on Thursday night. Hitter Nina Simanic leads Beachside in kills (86) followed by Mollie Vandeusen (76). Isabella Taveras Seda has 109 digs to lead the Barracudas. Ana Simanic has dished out 106 assists. It’s way early in the year, but it would be a shocker if the Barracudas weren’t the area’s top team from open to close this season.
2. (6) Trinity Christian (5-1, Class 2A)
Quality wins: Fletcher, Middleburg, St. Augustine.
Why they’re here: Nova Hewlett and Raelyn Williams have picked up where they left off last year. Hewlett is all over the court (97 kills, 64 digs) while Williams follows up with a big attack and versatility (55 kills, 13 blocks, 63 digs). Emma Hernesman is closing in on 200 assists (178). Big showdown on Thursday night against Bishop Kenny. Trinity topped both Fletcher and Middleburg in 3-2s since our last Super 6.
3. (3) Fleming Island (5-0, Class 4A)
Quality win: Bishop Kenny.
Why they’re here: The schedule has been a bit lean to start, but it picks up in a big way. The Golden Eagles visit a quality Fletcher on Thursday before a clash with powerhouse Santa Fe on Tuesday. Lillie Eason (69 kills, 35 digs), Lauren Brosky (46 kills) and Kaylee Clark (32 kills, 14 blocks) are pacing Fleming Island.
4. (NR) Middleburg (3-2, Class 5A)
Quality win: Ponte Vedra.
Why they’re here: Good start for the Broncos, whose losses are to high-quality teams in Santa Fe and Trinity Christian. Middleburg knocked off previously ranked Ponte Vedra since our last Super 6 in a 3-2 match. Katelynn Laezza (70 kills, 42 digs) and Maysie Bader (42 kills, 58 digs) are pacing the Broncos.
5. (4) Bolles (2-1, Class 3A)
Quality win: Fletcher.
Why they’re here: The Bulldogs return to action on Friday at St. Johns Classical. Their lone defeat came to No. 1 Beachside.
6. (5) Fletcher (4-2, Class 5A)
Quality wins: Wolfson, Yulee.
Why they’re here: The Senators dropped a 3-2 match to Trinity Christian but bounced back for a 3-1 win over a quality Yulee team. Chelsea Akakatang (60 kills, 30 blocks) is killing sets at a 60% clip. Amelia Richter and Riley Bridda have combined for 103 kills. Juliette Watson has 229 assists to lead the offense.
