JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Mandarin bounced back in a big way from its first loss of the season with a 31-10 blowout of Fletcher in a Super 10 showdown on Friday night.
The Mustangs (4-1) dropped their first game of the season (and first Gateway game since 2021) last week to Raines. Fletcher, with a stout defensive front, figured to push the Mustangs more than it had in years. Instead, it was Mandarin jumping out to a 14-0 lead and never looking back. The Senators dropped to 4-2.
No. 5 Bolles overcame a 10-0 deficit and romped to a 58-10 win over Baldwin. Xander Edwards had three total touchdowns and Jaxon Flowers picked took one of his three interceptions back for a touchdown in the win.
In the Varsity 4 Game of the Week, visiting West Nassau used three rushing touchdowns from Smo Green to fend off Fernandina Beach 30-24 on Friday night. The Warriors (5-0-1) also got a couple of two-point conversion runs from Green in the win. West Nassau led 8-7 at the break, despite three turnovers in the first quarter.
The Pirates (1-5) made a game of it late on a touchdown pass from Tyler Van Delinder to Beckham Rohe to get within 23-21 in the fourth quarter. But Green broke off a long touchdown run with 4:05 to play to go up 30-21. The Pirates settled for a field goal with just over a minute left but didn’t attempt the onside kick. West Nassau scratched out one first down to seal it.
