The series examines the “rise and eventual fall” of the New Jack Swing movement. “I didn’t think of her as an audio actress, but she’s just great at it.”Through the podcast, Henson wants the New Jack Swing story to be turned into a film.
Singer Bobby Brown’s son found dead at Los Angeles home
LOS ANGELES – Bobby Brown Jr., the son of singer Bobby Brown, was found dead at a Los Angeles home Wednesday. Los Angeles Police spokesman Officer Jeff Lee said officers were responding to a medical emergency when they found Brown Jr.'s body around 1:50 p.m. at a home in Encino, The Los Angeles Times reported. Brown Jr. was pronounced dead at the scene. Brown Jr. was the son of Bobby Brown and Kim Ward. His son's death is the latest in a string of misfortune for Bobby Brown.
Taraji P. Henson to host ‘New Jack Swing’ podcast series
LOS ANGELES – Taraji P. Henson will host a new podcast series focused on the story behind the New Jack Swing music era. Wondery and Universal Music Group announced Thursday that Henson will host “Jacked: The Rise of New Jack Swing.” The six-part series will premiere Nov. 17 on Apple Podcasts, Spotify and the Wondery App. The Oscar-nominated actor will also serve as a producer of the series, which is being dubbed as the “rise and eventual fall” of the New Jack Swing movement. The story will involve “dashed hopes, jealousy, betrayal, drugs, hip-hop and rivalries.”Megaproducer Teddy Riley is known as the leader of the New Jack Swing era, which made its mark in the ’80s and ’90s. The podcast series is the first project between Wondery and Universal Music Group since both announced their partnership last year.
Jacksonville Beach businesses struggling after resurgence in COVID-19 cases
JACKSONVILLE BEACH, Fla. Florida restaurants and bars are struggling to attract customers as fears about a rise in coronavirus cases continues. Thats especially the case in Jacksonville Beach, where more than a dozen businesses voluntarily closed after learning employees or customers tested positive for COVID-19. Nicol made the call to close June 16 after learning an employee tested positive. These businesses had been closed for eight weeks due to COVID-19, opened again and then closed last week for cleaning after two employees tested positive for the virus. The state agency already pulled the license of a popular pub in Orlando, the Knights Pub, after dozens of employees and customers tested positive for COVID-19.
Nick Gordon died after being found unresponsive in hotel

Gordon, ex-partner of the late Bobbi Kristina Brown, has died. Paramedics were called to Nick Gordon's hotel room in Maitland, a suburb of Orlando, early Wednesday morning to check on an unresponsive man, according to a statement from the Maitland Police Department. The paramedics in the Sheraton hotel room began treating Gordon, who was identified in the police statement as Nicholas Bouler. Investigators with the medical examiner’s office were not able to determine exactly how Bobbi Kristina Brown died.
