Sheriff Gator DeLoach announced Friday the identity of a victim in a 43-year-old cold case murder. William Irving Monroe III died from a gunshot wound to the neck a few weeks before his partial buried body was discovered on December 4, 1980. A deputy on routine patrol found the body in the area of Sisco Road and Broward Lake Road in Pamona Park.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. โ Providing new hope for local families whose loved ones have been killed, the State Attorneyโs Office for Floridaโs 4th Judicial Circuit has been awarded a $470,000 grant to take another look at cold cases. In the grant application, prosecutors said they identified more than 740 pending cold cases between 1995 and 2016. โCold cases are challenging to investigate and rewarding to solve. A newborn baby who was left in a Boca Raton, Florida, dumpster has been reunited with her birth father.
