Local honey truck expands to full-scale St. Augustine business

The Honey Truck, local to St. Augustine, started as a small business selling honey out of a vintage truck has now expanded into a full-scale business dedicated to selling honey and educating people about honeybees and what we can be doing to save their habitats. Owner Danielle Brooks provides local honey, best for its health benefits, around the area. She enjoys teaching about honey and sharing great ways to cook with honey.

Why local honey is so important

Danielle Brooks loves drinking tea, especially with honey. One day she thought how awesome it would be to have her own hive to harvest from; so she started researching bees and how to keep them. After checking out every book in the library on the subject, she decided to jump in with both feet.

'Orange is the New Black' star Danielle Brooks on her biggest money mistake: 'I should have fought more'

Holding her almost four-month-old daughter, Freeya, in her lap, actress Danielle Brooks recounts some of the biggest lessons she's learned about money over the years. Brooks rose to stardom playing fan favorite Taystee on the Netflix hit series "Orange is the New Black," often shortened to "OITNB." It's an envy-worthy career, though Brooks does have one regret, she says: Not advocating for herself and owning her worth in the final seasons of "OITNB." "When you come to find out the 'Stranger Things' kids are making more than you are in your final season, that's heartbreaking," Brooks tells CNBC Make It. "It wasn't until the end of season two, I had saved up my money to pay off that loan," she says.
