JACKSONVILLE, Fla. โ A UF Health Jacksonville security officer credited with saving the life of a firefighter who was stabbed in the line of duty last year is now an emergency medical technician. Davay Kinsey graduated from Florida State College at Jacksonvilleโs Fire Academy of the South with the EMT certification, bringing her one step closer to fulfilling her dream. โI graduated this past Friday and graduated with the EMT certification for the program to start fire school that begins in January,โ Kinsey told News4Jax. โThat is the end goal.โKinsey plans to begin the firefighter I and II course in January. She said she will continue to work at UF Health for as long as the hospital will have her.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. โ A UF Health Jacksonville security officer credited with saving the life of a firefighter who was stabbed in the line of duty was awarded a college scholarship Monday in recognition of her heroism. City and community leaders presented security officer and Air Force veteran Davay Kinsey with the Florida State College at Jacksonville Presidentโs Heroism Award and a scholarship to the collegeโs Fire Academy of the South, so she can accomplish her goal of becoming an emergency medical technician. When the ambulance arrived, Kinsey could tell that one of the firefighters โ Capt. โFrom the moment I met Davay, I immediately identified qualities of strength, confidence, teamwork and leadership,โ Chief Powers said. โWhat better way to do that than to help her achieve her own personal and professional goal?โ he said.
Jacksonville fire chief thanks security guard who saved wounded firefighter
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - After a veteran fire captain was slashed and stabbed by a patient, Chief Keith Powers with the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department personally thanked the security guard credited with helping save the firefighter's life. On Thursday, Powers went to UF Health to meet and thank Davay Kinsey. The other firefighter, Engineer Vinnie Harper, was treated for a cut to his leg and released from the hospital.
