That means under the current proposal, the video game could not depict specific players playing for their teams.

There is no timetable in place for the next release of a college football game, the company said. โWeโve heard from the millions of passionate fans requesting the return of college football video games,โ EA Sports executive vice president and general manage Cam Weber said in a statement. โWe love the energy, tradition and pageantry of college football and I am beyond thrilled to say we are back in development." The NCAA Football video game did not identify players by name, but the game simulated teams and players as they played in real life. The video game was part of a broad legal challenge and a judge ruled the NCAA had been inappropriately using the names, images and likenesses of college athletes.

The final game was made in 2013 with Michigan athlete and eventual Jaguars draft pick Denard Robinson on the cover of โNCAA Football 2014.โWhen EA Sports halted making the game, largely due to lawsuits about paying players for their likenesses, that 2014 game became a collectors item and went for double and triple its initial MSRP on auction sites like Ebay.

Until recently, Tebas and the government were not considering having fans back in any of the stadiums until next season. Tebas also confirmed that fans will have the option to watch matches with virtual crowds including supporters' chants when it restarts this week. Tebas said the league had been testing virtual crowds along with video game company EA Sports, which will provide the audio that it uses in its FIFA titles.
