Gainesville Police investigating possible abduction
GAINESVILLE, Fla. โ The Florida Department of Law Enforcement tweeted it is in the process of issuing a Florida AMBER Alert out of Alachua County, following reports of an abduction in the North Lincoln Heights neighborhood in Gainesville on Sunday afternoon. Gainesville Police have also confirmed to News4Jax that theyโre investigating a possible abduction. It is not clear yet if it is related to FDLEโs Amber Alert as well. GPD officers set up a perimeter around near the intersection of Southeast 7th Avenue and 15th Street. Details about what happened are limited at the moment, but we will bring you the latest information as soon as we learn more.
Boy, 13, dies in Gainesville crash involving stolen scooter
GAINESVILLE, Fla. โ A 13-year-old boy died and another teen suffered life-threatening injuries in a crash Sunday in Gainesville involving a stolen vehicle. The traffic crash happened about 5:15 p.m. on Northeast 25th Street near Northeast 4th Avenue, according to the Gainesville Police Department. Police said the two teens were riding in a Ford Taurus heading south on Northeast 25th Street at a โvery high rate of speedโ when a stolen scooter cut them off. A 17-year-old boy who was also in the vehicle was taken to UF Health Shands Gainesville with life-threatening injuries.
