AP source: Jags trade oft-injured Oliver to Ravens for pick

Read full article: AP source: Jags trade oft-injured Oliver to Ravens for pick

A person familiar with negotiations says the Jacksonville Jaguars have traded oft-injured tight end Josh Oliver, a 2019 third-round draft pick who has been limited to four games, to the Baltimore Ravens for a conditional pick in 2022. The person said the pick will become a seventh-rounder if Oliver makes Baltimore's 53-man roster this year. New coach Urban Meyer vowed to completely revamp Jacksonville's tight end room, but he failed to land any of the top guys available in free agency. Jacksonville added run-blocking specialist Chris Manhertz (two years, $7.25 million) in free agency and re-signed James O'Shaughnessy. They have five of the top 65 picks in next month's draft, and a tight end is almost guaranteed to be one of them.

Free agency feels a lot like recruiting to new Jaguars coach Urban Meyer. It certainly should help that the Jaguars have more salary cap space (nearly $73 million) than any other team. (AP Photo/Jay LaPrete, File)JACKSONVILLE, Fla. โ€“ Free agency feels a lot like recruiting to new Jaguars coach Urban Meyer. Clemson star Trevor Lawrence is the presumptive choice, and the Jaguars will use free agency to build around him. โ€œThatโ€™s a room thatโ€™s going to have to be rebuilt in some ways,โ€ said Meyer, who could sign Hunter Henry, Jonnu Smith or Gerald Everett when free agency officially begins Wednesday.

Getty ImagesJACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Two days before the vital third preseason game, Jaguars' head coach Doug Marrone said there are nine players who definitely won't play in the game due to injuries. On defense, injured linebackers Quincy Williams, Jake Ryan, Davis Tull, and defensive tackle Marcell Dareus will not play in Miami against the Dolphins. And then, obviously, the players that can play are actually going to play." Marrone said that the running back will play on Thursday, but did not disclose who many touches he expects him to receive. The expectation is that quarterback Nick Foles will see his first action in a preseason game, which has created anticipation from fans, coaches and players.

The team revealed that 32 players will not play for the Jaguars against the Ravens in the preseason opener for both teams.
