JACKSONVILLE, Fla. โ Five new flyover ramps along a busy stretch of the Interstate 4 corridor in Central Florida are opening three months ahead of schedule, Gov. RELATED: FDOT speeds up roadwork along I-4 corridorCompleted work includes four new ramps connecting drivers on I-4 to State Road 408, along with a ramp that brings traffic from eastbound SR 408 onto westbound I-4. The final piece of the interchange project, a flyover that links up westbound SR 408 and westbound I-4, is set to open later this summer. The governor instructed state transportation officials to take advantage of that opportunity by fast-tracking roadwork along I-4. Woman passed out on side of highway from heroin overdose
CNN(CNN) - A 12-year-old girl called police after her mother passed out from a heroin overdose on the side of the highway in Volusia County, Florida, on Thursday night. When deputies arrived, they found Smith unconscious with her 12-year-old daughter, a 7-year-old boy, a 1-year-old boy and two dogs in the minivan. "I honestly took heroin because my back was hurting," Smith, 28, told the officials. "It's not, but I had no pain pill and my back was hurting and I'm making a five-hour trip," she responded. She was charged with neglect but was not immediately booked into Volusia County Branch Jail pending her treatment at the hospital, police said.
Man arrested for pretending to be officer, pulling over deputy
HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. - A Hillsborough County, Florida deputy sheriff arrested a 35-year-old man on Fourth of July after being accused of pretending to be a law enforcement officer. Hastings told him "he was a law enforcement officer and his credentials were at the office." He told the deputy he could follow him back to the "station" so he could obtain and show him his credentials. Shortly after exiting on Branch Forbes, Hastings was stopped by a Hillsborough County deputy, where he was detained while they interviewed the off-duty deputy. No handcuffs or firearms were located in the vehicle," the Sheriff's Office said.
