Fully vaccinated NFL players, staff don’t have to wear masks

The NFL is not requiring fully vaccinated players and staff to wear masks at team facilities following the CDC’s latest guidance regarding COVID-19. In a memo sent to clubs on Friday and obtained by The Associated Press, the league and the NFL Players Association made the modification after consulting with their medical and scientific experts. Players and tiered staff who haven’t been fully vaccinated must continue to wear masks until they receive it. Cleveland Browns coach Kevin Stefanski learned of the news Friday on the practice field during rookie camp. The reigning NFL Coach of the Year was able to take his mask off for the first time as a head coach.

DCPS projects $2 million price tag to rename 9 schools

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Duval County Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Diana Greene said in a School Board workshop Tuesday morning that the estimated total cost for renaming nine schools with controversial namesakes in the district could top $2 million. The $2 million total includes roughly $32,000 for each of the two elementary schools and $287,000 for the seven secondary schools on the renaming list. As predicted, the largest estimated costs associated with renaming a school are the price tags for new athletics and band uniforms, expected to cost a combined $195,000 per secondary school. Because the district’s elementary schools don’t have those extracurriculars nor the need to change school mascots -- estimated to cost $60,000 -- Finegan and Jackson Elementary schools are quoted at a fraction of the total cost of the secondary school renamings. money collected by the specific school for faculty, staff, and student activities) and private donations.

TikTok removes two dozen accounts used for ISIS propaganda

TikTok has removed nearly two dozen accounts responsible for posting ISIS propaganda videos, The Wall Street Journal first reported. "Content promoting terrorist organizations has absolutely no place on TikTok," a TikTok spokesperson said in a statement to CNBC. Popular TikTok videos can rack up tens or hundreds of thousands of views. "This is an industry-wide challenge complicated by bad actors who actively seek to circumvent protective measures, but we have a team dedicated to aggressively protecting against malicious behavior on TikTok," a TikTok spokesperson said.

TikTok is under investigation in the UK over children's data privacy rights

Popular Chinese video sharing app TikTok is under investigation in the U.K. for how it collects and uses children's personal information. Elizabeth Denham, head of the U.K.'s Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), said in a parliamentary hearing Tuesday the agency is investigating whether TikTok violated the EU's data privacy law called GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation), which requires companies to provide specific protections related to children's personal data. "We are looking at the transparency tools for children," Denham said. So we do have an active investigation into TikTok right now, so you can watch that space."
