A scholarship named after Talen Birt, who died after a more than two-year battle with an aggressive bone cancer, is expected to be presented in May 2023, according to his family.

A Jacksonville 16-year-old boy, who had an aggressive form of bone cancer, was laid to rest on Saturday.

The school community came together to wish Talen Birt well and to say, “We love you and we miss you.”
