JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – An altercation between parents Tuesday morning outside Matthew Gilbert Middle School on Jacksonville’s Eastside ended when police were called and one of the adults was charged with possession of a gun on school property. According to a police report, Moenika Ellis, 31, got into a fight with three other parents in the parking lot. According to the JSO arrest report, Ellis never pointed the gun at anyone, but did resist arrest and was also charged with possession of marijuana. He said his daughter had been attacked by Ellis’ daughter during school. “So what I did was, when she said she was attacked, what normal parents do, I go to the school,” Wiggins said.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. Officers are investigating an altercation that took place Friday in a roadway on the Westside that led to a man being struck by a vehicle, according to the Jacksonville Sheriffs Office. Jacob Vorpahl, with the Sheriffs Office, said investigators were called to the scene of McDuff Avenue and McQuaid Street around 5:30 p.m. When they arrived, police found the body of a man between the ages of 30 and 35. According to Vorpahl, the altercation was between someone driving a vehicle and someone in the road. He said someone fired a shot from a weapon and that the driver of the vehicle struck the man in the roadway.
