1 killed in fiery 4-vehicle crash on US 301 in Maxville

MAXVILLE, Fla. – One person died Tuesday morning in a four-vehicle crash on U.S. 301 just before County Road 218, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers said a pickup truck towing an SUV on a flatbed trailer was going north on U.S. 301 about 10:20 a.m. when it struck a Kia Cadenza. Those two vehicles continued north and hit a Ford Expedition, which struck a Hyundai Sonata.

At some point, a fire began and the driver of the Kia died at the scene.

The cause of this crash is currently under investigation.
