ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. – A 71-year-old man died Sunday night in a crash at the intersection of U.S. 1 and Ray Road in St. Johns County, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
According to troopers, a car driven by a 62-year-old man from St. Augustine didn’t stop in time at the intersection and hit the back of the car driven by the 71-year-old man.

The impact forced the 62-year-old’s car to sideswipe another car that was also at the intersection, FHP said.
The 71-year-old driver died at a local hospital. His 59-year-old female passenger suffered minor injuries.
The 62-year-old driver also suffered minor injuries, along with two passengers in the car that was sideswiped.
Everyone involved was wearing a seat belt, according to the report.
