Councilman Joe Carlucci gave an update to News4JAX on Thursday regarding the plan with the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT).

“FDOT’s evaluations are set to be completed by mid-July,” Carlucci explained.

Carlucci previously said that FDOT is doing their evaluation and that he has been advocating hard for this to happen.

FDOT provided a statement Thursday saying:

The study and evaluations FDOT officials are performing use empirical data including pedestrian counts, traffic volumes and crash history to determine the most appropriate and context-specific safety measures that may be considered. While this process may take up to 90 days, FDOT safety officials are hopeful the study will be completed next month."
