School bus, e-bike involved in separate crashes Thursday morning in Clay County: Sheriff

CLAY COUNTY, Fla. โ€“ Clay County Sheriff Michelle Cook said two separate crashes involving students were reported Thursday morning in Clay County

One was a hit-and-run involving a child or teen on an e-bike near Clay High School. The kid was taken to a hospital with minor injuries.

Deputies are looking for a silver SUV in connection with that crash.

News4JAX has a crew headed to the area to learn more.

The other crash involved a school bus at Blanding Boulevard and Howard Road in Middleburg.

No students were injured in that incident, Cook said.

News4JAX viewer Danese Terry shared photos from the bus crash, showing a crumpled white car and no visible damage to the bus.

Terry, whose children were not on the bus, praised the Sheriffโ€™s Office and school transportation response.

โ€œPolice were on scene very quickly, and transportation notified all parents of students on that bus very promptly. A second bus showed up within minutes to transport kids to school,โ€ Terry said.

Authorities have not indicated which school(s) the students were headed to.
