Falls are the leading cause of injury for adults who are 65 years and older. According to the CDC, more than 14 million adults report falling every year. That's one in four. This just happened to my family. My 77-year-old mother fell at home and broke her wrist and her hip. Thankfully she is very active and has recovered quickly but it was extremely painful and hard to watch as a daughter. Tonia Benjamin is the executive director of the Northeast Florida Area Health Education center which is a non- profit organization that serves older adults.
