Memorial Day weekend travel expected to break record despite high gas prices, expensive airfares

Between May 21 and May 25, more than 45 million Americans are expected to travel for Memorial Day weekend. That is the most since AAA started keeping count. But the difference in the number of people traveling this year compared to 2025 is less than 1%, which is the smallest increase in more than a decade.
