2024 Voter's Guide: Lake City, Fort White municipal elections

Voters in two Columbia County communities will face choices for municipal elections this year.

In Fort White, voters will decide whether to re-elect their mayor, or elect a challenger. This is a non-partisan election.

Lake City voters will vote on a proposed charter amendment that involves how pay is determined for the mayor and council members.

Lake City Referendum

Currently, the salary of the Lake City mayor and city council members is set each year through the city's budget process. This charter amendment would change the process so that the salaries are set through a stand-alone resolution each year.

Shall the city’s charter be amended to provide the compensation of the mayor and members of the city council shall only be established or changed by adoption of a stand-alone, single-subject resolution, and further permitting the city council and mayor to adopt an ordinance to further implement the provisions of the foregoing charter provision, if adopted?
