2026 Voter’s Guide: City of Starke Proposed Charter Amendment

In the August primary, voters in Starke overwhelmingly voted to approve a change to the city’s charter. The city commission placed the question on the ballot in the spring, following five months of work by citizens and city officials on the developing the new charter.

According to the ballot question, the changes will conform the charter with current law and present standards of municipal governance, and make changes to the organization, powers, and procedures of city government.

Ballot question:

Shall the Charter of the City of Starke, Florida be amended and restated in its entirety to update its provisions, to conform with current law and present standards of municipal governance, and to incorporate revisions relating to the organization, powers, and procedures of City government, as set forth in the proposed revised Charter available for public inspection?
