ST. AUGUSTINE Fla. – St. Augustine experienced heavy flooding and high winds due to the impact of Hurricane Matthew.

Power outages were being reported throughout the city.

Water was filling the streets of downtown St. Augustine and waves overtopped the St. Augustine Beach Pier.

St. Augustine Airport reported a 66-mph gust. A marine station 4 miles offshore, southeast of St. Augustine, reported a gust of 79 mph.

More than 1.5 million Floridians were asked to evacuate because of the storm, including barrier islands from Glynn to Flagler counties, the entire city of St. Augustine and all of Camden and Glynn counties.
