JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Tropical Storm Lorenzo continues to spin over the central tropical Atlantic. While the system is a Tropical Storm, it remains poorly organized.
Over the next few days, the storm will remain in an environment that is not ripe for development. The surrounding area has a high level of wind shear, and there’s ample dry air in place.

The bottom line is this system does not pose a threat to our area and will remain thousands of miles to our east.
Computer models this afternoon show the system being influenced by an area of high pressure over the area, which is why it turns to the northeast by Wednesday. Indications are that the storm’s track could loop around.
Aside from Lorenzo, additional tropical cyclone formation is not expected during the next 7 days.
