Shands Bridge lane closures scheduled for overnight maintenance

CLAY COUNTY, Fla. – Drivers crossing the Shands Bridge overnight should plan for delays.

The Florida Department of Transportation has scheduled lane closures with a flagging operation on the bridge from 8 p.m. Friday Night through 5 a.m. Saturday to allow for maintenance work.

The Shands Bridge carries State Road 16 over the St. Johns River, linking Clay County near Green Cove Springs along U.S. 17 to St. Johns County.

Officials are urging drivers to use caution and allow extra travel time to reach their destinations.
