CAMDEN COUNTY, Ga. – A Camden County Schools employee was arrested Friday, after district leadership discovered an unsecured firearm inside the employee’s unlocked personal vehicle parked on school grounds, according to the district.
Officials say the incident occurred at a local middle school but didn’t specify which one. District leaders found the weapon left in an unlocked vehicle, without being secured inside a locked compartment or container — a direct violation of district safety guidelines and state law.

Officials immediately turned the matter over to local law enforcement. Officers arrested the employee on campus.
The employee now faces criminal charges for violating state school safety zone laws. Following the arrest, the employee was placed on immediate administrative leave while legal and district investigations continue.
District officials want to reassure the community that the weapon was never brought inside the school building, and no threats were made against any students or staff members.
“The safety and security of students and employees remains the absolute highest priority,” district leaders said, adding that the district enforces a strict zero-tolerance policy regarding unsecured weapons on campus.
District leaders said they are fully cooperating with law enforcement during the ongoing investigation.
