Update: 4:45 p.m. We are receiving reports of dime-sized hail, some local flooding and wind damage as strong to severe storms continue.
Hail was reported in Clay County. Wind gusts reached 57 mph with multiple reports of wind gusts in excess of 40 mph. Tree and powerline damage was reported in Clay and Duval counties.
Isolated strong to severe storms will be possible through sunset tonight.
Near record highs as an Extreme Heat Warning and a Heat Advisory continue through 8 p.m. The Advisories continue tomorrow and likely for the remainder of the week.
A Heat Advisory will be in effect from 11 a.m. - 8 p.m. Wednesday.
The summer heat has been relentless from dusk to dawn.
A record warm minimum temperatures was tied at JAX yesterday. The morning low reached 79 degrees, which ties the previous daily record set in 1909.
A record high temperature was tied at Craig Airport on Monday of 97 degrees, set in 2005. The morning low fell to 82 degrees on Monday which breaks the previous daily record of 80 degrees set in 2005.
In Gainesville the low fell to 77 degrees on Monday, which tied a record from 2010 and in Alma, GA the low dropped to 77 degrees, which ties a record minimum temperature in 2021.
Isolated showers and thunderstorms will be possible across northeast Florida through sunset.
The pattern continues with triple-digit Heat Indices and afternoon thunderstorms through Friday. Locally heavy rain, gusty wind and lightning remain the main hazards.
Near record highs along with the heat and humidity will keep heat indices around 105 - 110 degrees.
In the tropics: Tropical activity is not expected for the next few days, however, the GFS continues to show potential development in the Atlantic later this week or weekend. The EURO is not showing anything over the same area and time.

Wednesday: Hot and humid. Heat Advisory 11 a.m. - 8 p.m. Heat indices up to 110 degrees. Isolated showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 2 p.m., 30-50 percent. Morning lows in the 70s to low 80s. Afternoon highs in the 90s inland, upper 80s to low 90s along the beaches. Wind: W/SE 5-10 mph.
Thursday - Friday: Near record highs with possible heat advisories. Scattered afternoon showers and thunderstorms daily. Morning lows in the 70s with highs in the mid to upper 90s inland, upper 80s to 90s along the beaches. Feels Like temperatures 105-110 degrees. Wind: WSW 5 -10 mph.
