Demand steady at COVID testing sites after hours expanded to Saturday

JACKSONVILLE, Fla.Agape Family Health extended its COVID-19 testing hours at the Clanzel Brown and Lane Wiley centers to include Saturdays.

Both centers had lines out the door Saturday morning after opening at 9 a.m. The pace was steady throughout the day until the doors closed at 4 p.m.

Both COVID testing sites will reopen at 9 a.m. Monday.

Some people said they were happy to hear the sites added testing to the weekend because of their work schedules making it a challenge to come during the week.

The sites also offer vaccinations seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Health officials say both services are important to have throughout the community.

One woman getting a COVID-19 shot on Saturday said she feels more confident now that she’s vaccinated.

“I did put it off for a while, but I work in health care, so I knew it was best that I get it,” said Phyllis Livingston. “One hundred percent come out and get your shot. It’s worth it.”
