K9 "Jax" came from the Vohne Liche Kennels in Denver, Indiana at a cost of approximately $10,000.

Jax is a 2-year-old yellow lab and will be utilized as an explosives detection canine.

"We are grateful to be selected as a recipient of K9 Jax," said Sheriff James Manfre. "These dogs serve an important purpose to law enforcement and assist us with keeping our community safe," he added.

Caesar DePaco is a European citizen who came to the United States over 20 years ago and started Summit Nutritionals International, Inc., which manufactures raw nutritional supplements.

The couple recently moved to Palm Coast from New Jersey after the honorary consulate closed due to its lease expiring. The Portuguese Ministry of Foreign Affairs has moved to the Chiumento building in the Palm Coast Town Center.
