A vehicle was found damaged and submerged in a local pond on Aug. 2 and the Camden County Sheriff's Office dive team confirmed it was the same car that Nash reported stolen, investigators said.
Investigators said they later discovered Nash had knowledge of the vehicle's location.
A warrant for false statements, insurance fraud and false report of a vehicle theft was obtained on Friday and Nash was arrested at his Kingsland residence Monday, police said.
“I would like to commend the efforts of our detectives who took part in this investigation. Detective Hugh Riley is the lead case detective and was assisted by the Camden County Sheriff’s Office Dive Team. I really appreciate everyone’s hard work and dedication," Chief Darryl Griffis said.
