Man in life-threatening condition after shooting on West Forsyth Street

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office says a man is fighting for his life after he was shot on West Forsyth Street in downtown Jacksonville Friday evening.

Police say they were called to the 800 block of Forsyth Street just before 6 p.m. in reference to a shooting. When officers arrived, they found a man in his 20s suffering from a gunshot wound. Jacksonville Fire and Rescue transported him to a hospital in life-threatening condition.

JSO detectives, the agency’s Crime Scene Unit and the State Attorney’s Office are investigating the incident. Police say they’re working to obtain video surveillance and speak with anyone who may have witnessed this.
