JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The high school football season is off and running, including a handful of Super 10 upsets in a busy Week 1 on Friday night.

Top-ranked Raines won its 15th consecutive game in a 21-7 slugfest over No. 9 Oakleaf in the Varsity 4 Game of the Week. The Vikings, last year’s Class 3A state champions, trailed 7-6 at halftime before picking things up after the break. Curtis Asberry and TJ Williamson scored rushing touchdowns in the second half and the Vikings defense, led by Troy Butler and Johdeem Jones, put the clamps on the Knights.

No. 6 Ed White used a two-point conversion run by King Boylston in overtime to edge No. 7 Trinity Christian in a back and forth 42-40 shootout. Boylston also had an 87-yard touchdown run in the opening half for the Commanders. Ed White trailed 28-14 before surging back to force a 34-all tie on a Boylston touchdown pass with under a minute to play.

No. 2 Bolles went down in a 20-19 game against No. 8 Columbia. The Tigers showed that they’ve made significant strides since getting blown off the field in a 31-0 loss to the Bulldogs last year.

No. 3 Mandarin made a statement in the Broward County Showcase, rolling over McArthur 38-21. Brysen Wright had a pair of touchdown catches and Shaunqueze Foster scored three times for the Mustangs.
