Man arrested in rape case nearly 2 years after incident

Reginald Nicholas Williams, 20, charged with sexual battery

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man was arrested after a sample of his DNA was matched with a victim from a rape case two years after the incident.

Deputies said the victim reported that Reginald Nicholas Williams, 20, took her upstairs into a bedroom at 710 Spearing St. and forced her to have sex with him on April 22, 2015.

When interviewed in July 2015, Williams told officials he had sex with the victim in 2014, but denied having relations with the victim during 2015. He then denied a DNA buccal swab.

However, detectives obtained a DNA search warrant for Williams on March 31, when they were able to get the swab.

Deputies said in June a lab report matched the DNA profile from the victim's underwear with Williams' DNA swab.

Williams was arrested and charged with sexual battery.
