JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A vigil was held Thursday night for a woman who was shot and killed last week outside one of her favorite neighborhood bars.
Friends and family gathered to remember Jenifer Nelson, 48.
Jenifer Nelson was killed and another woman was critically injured in a shooting Feb. 23 outside Kelly's Place, a bar and restaurant on Kings Road in New Town, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

The memorial service was held exactly one week after Khaliyah Nelson's mother was killed as she sat in a car outside the business.
"I just couldn't believe it. It was weird," Khaliyah Nelson said. "She had just left the house playing with the kids, and then this happened."
Friends and family of Jenifer Nelson said they never thought her life would end like this.
"When you see Jen and she gives you that hug, she don't give you a little big hug with a pat. She gives you a whole, hug like a mama," family friend Tarsha King said. "She makes you know that you're cared for by her, and I'm going to miss that."
They are actions that will also be missed by Jenifer Nelson's five grandchildren and her daughter.
"Everything. Big smile. We live together, so it was real close," Khaliyah Nelson said.
Police said someone fired around 40 shots from the street into the parking lot of Kelly's Place and a silver Honda Accord was sprayed with bullets.
Inside the car was Jenifer Nelson. Her daughter still wants to know why.
"Like, what was you thinking? That's crazy," Khaliyah Nelson said. "You didn't look inside the car to see who you were shooting at? It's just weird."
"God, we ask that you just give this mother and family peace, God," Linda Dayson said. "Give them contentment, God, and give them joy, father God, even in the night when there is nobody there, God."
Police still have not revealed a motive in the shooting. The owner of the bar told News4Jax that nothing seemed out of the ordinary the night the shooting happened.
Family members told News4Jax that Jenifer Nelson's sister was murdered about a decade ago, also off Kings Road.
The wake will be at 4 p.m. Friday and her funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday.
