JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man about 47 years old was shot and killed early Tuesday morning in front of his home while his family was inside, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said.
Officers responded to the call around 3 a.m. in the area of Hammond Boulevard and Cahoon Road, Tuesday morning.
This is the second death in Jacksonville within hours and the fifth in the last five days. Overnight, another man was found shot and killed in the front lawn of a home in the Pine Forest neighborhood, off St. Augustine Road south of Emerson.
The Hammond Boulevard death brings the city's homicide rate to 120 this year, tying the number we saw in all of 2016.
