JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Homicide detectives continue to investigate the shooting death of a Jacksonville man at the Westside apartment complex where he lived, authorities said Friday.

The family of Deangelo Dominique Tillie, 28, told News4Jax the father was killed in front of his 10-year-old daughter. It was also just days before his mother's birthday.

Officers were called to the Camelot Gardens apartments on Lane Avenue near Park Street about 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, according to the Sheriff's Office.

There they found Tillie shot dead inside one of the apartments, the Sheriff's Office said. It's unclear if the apartment was Tillie's.

"For someone to come along and do such a harsh thing to him is unbelievable," said Stephanie Tillie, the victim's aunt. "I hope just will be served for what happened to him."

The Sheriff's Office has not released any suspect information. Anyone who knows what may have happened is encouraged to call Crime Stoppers at 866-845-TIPS.
