JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Police Sergeant David Griffis with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office received JSO’s 2022 Detective of the Year award.
The sheriff’s office made the announcement on social media Wednesday.

JSO said prior to his promotion to a supervisory role within the agency, Griffis served as a detective in JSO’s Special Assault Unit.
“It was there that his investigative skills led to solving a cold case investigation and bringing closure to a survivor and their family,” the announcement said.
JSO said Griffis was specifically selected for this investigation due to his training, experience and compassion for victims of violent crimes.
“Sergeant Griffis, we applaud your determination in solving this case and seeking justice for this family,” the announcement said.
