Jacksonville man killed in St. Marys police shooting Officers were responding to reports of threats at an apartment

ST. MARYS, Ga. – A Jacksonville man was shot and killed in a Sunday night shooting with the St. Marys Police Department.
Officers responded to reports of threats at Cumberland Oaks Apartments on Mary Powell Drive a little after 11 a.m. The SMPD did not specify what type of threats were made.
The responding officers made contact with 27-year-old Gregory Paige, and after a brief encounter, the officers started shooting, hitting Paige.
Paige was given aid and taken to the hospital, where he died.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is stepping in to investigate.
