Orange Park teenager killed, 2 men injured in Green Cove Springs shooting

GREEN COVE SPRINGS, Fla. – An 18-year-old was killed and two other men were hospitalized Tuesday evening after a shooting in Green Cove Springs, according to a news release from the police department.

Investigators said police were sent to Center Street at about 6 p.m. in reference to the shooting. They said officers found two people in the street who had been shot.

According to police, both were hospitalized where Skyler Shane Townsend, of Orange Park, died of his injuries. A second victim had surgery.

While at the hospital investigating, police said another man arrived at the hospital suffering from a gunshot wound that was not believed to be life-threatening. Police believe that the third man was involved in the same shooting.

Green Cove Springs police said the investigation remains “very active.”
