Man, woman killed in shooting at Arlington apartment, police say

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Two people were killed in a shooting early Sunday at an apartment complex in Arlington, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said.

Police said it happened shortly before 2:45 a.m. inside an apartment at the complex on Townsend Boulevard. Police said a man and a woman died at the scene.

Two men were involved, and they are being interviewed, the Sheriff’s Office said Sunday morning. Police also said a resident of the apartment possibly left the scene.

Police said there’s no threat to the public or any residents of the apartment complex, but the deadly double shooting has left neighbors shocked and afraid.

“I was just in disbelief,” said one woman who lives next door and did not want to be identified. “This is just too close to home.”

The woman told News4Jax that she knew the two who were killed.

“I’m kind of heartbroken because I met them, took them to the grocery store, and now they’re gone,” the woman said.

Detectives are investigating. Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office by calling 904-630-0500 or emailing JSOCrimetips@jaxsheriff.org. To remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS (8477).

This was the second shooting at the same apartment complex in just over a month. In early June, according to police, a man was killed in a shooting in the parking lot of the complex.
