Bicyclist dead after being hit by SUV on Chaffee Road

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. ā A 47-year-old man is dead after being hit by an SUV while riding his bike on Chaffee Road at Old Gainesville Road early Tuesday morning, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The SUV was traveling south on Chaffee Road near Old Gainesville Road around 1:40 a.m. and the bicyclist was traveling within the southbound travel lane of Chaffee Road. Thatās when the front of the SUV hit the bicyclist, according to FHP.
The 53-year-old man driving the SUV was not injured. He was wearing a seat belt.
The bicyclist died at the scene.
This crash is still under investigation, according to FHP.
