A Jacksonville woman was waiting for an Uber when she was shot multiple times. Somehow, she survived

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A woman who was shot several times in the back in Northwest Jacksonville is recovering after the scary incident.

“I didn’t know if I was going to be able to walk again. I didn’t know what the outcome was going to be. I didn’t know if I was going to be able to make it home to my son,” said Kathianne Huth.

Huth was shot while waiting for an Uber off of Palmdale Street.

She was shot multiple times and miraculously survived after she was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Huth said she was not the intended target.

Huth said she was with her friend when she was shot and said there was no one walking or driving by when she was hit.

“All the bullet holes have entry wounds but no exit wounds and there were no bullets inside of me,” she said.

Huth said she and a friend were waiting for a family member and when they didn’t show up she called for an Uber.

“The Uber was getting ready to come next thing I know I heard two pops coming from like my left side. And I looked and I seen smoke and the next thing I know I was on the ground I was begging for my friend not to leave because I had been hit and it was burning really bad,” she said.

In and out of consciousness, she called 911.

According to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, Huth was shot twice but she said she was hit five times.

“Once I got in the ambulance, they seen that it was five times on top of three broken ribs. A broken scapula which is your shoulder ugly and a bruised lung,” Huth said. “Once in my right thigh, twice on my spinal cord, once on the top of my butt, once on my right shoulder and grazed on my left knuckle.”

After being hospitalized for several days and undergoing many procedures, Huth still hopes for justice.

“If you hear something like say something don’t just play blind and oblivious to what’s really going on in our neighborhoods and our communities,” she said.

Huth has created a GoFundMe page to help with her medical expenses.
