Severe weather may cause disruptions for millions of travelers this weekend

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – This weekend’s storm could impact travel as people begin making their way to their holiday destinations.

Around 115 million Americans are expected to travel 50 miles or more this season.

This weekend, in particular, severe weather is expected to impact millions of people as it slides up the East Coast.

Wind could also be an issue for planes trying to take off or land, depending on direction.

TSA issued a reminder this week about how to properly pack a gun if you plan to travel with it.

Not following the rules can really set you back timewise at the airport.

“Before placing them inside the case, the firearm needs to be completely unloaded,” TSA spokesperson Mark Howell said. “So, you’ll take the magazine out of the weapon and make sure no rounds are chambered. Once it’s empty, you can place the firearm inside the case.”

And finally, get to the airport at least two hours early. There will be more people dropping off and picking up loved ones and parking lots always fill up during the busy seasons.

It’s not just airports that could be affected by this weekend’s storm.

It could cause disruptions on the roads, so be careful if you’re taking I-95 North this weekend to start your holiday trip.

This week, Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg issued a reminder to travelers to check this website, flightrights.gov to know your rights if your flight gets delayed or canceled.
