Vice Mayor Barbara Blonder filed for the seat, but eventually withdrew, leaving Garris unopposed and the race will not appear on the ballot.

“She is considered elected and her race will not appear on the ballot,” Vicky Oakes, the St. Johns County Supervisor of Elections, said. “She will take office at the first meeting of the City Commission in December.”

According to the City of St. Augustine website, Garris has spent her life and 23-year career in local government focused on empowering people in the community and inspiring future generations by leading by example.
