4 young people — 21, 21, 20, 16 — accused in murder of 30-year-old Jacksonville man

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Four young people were arrested and accused in the shooting death of a 30-year-old Jacksonville man who was shot last year in the Woodstock neighborhood.

On October 18, 2023, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office responded to Sophia Street following reports of a shooting.

Javan Holmes was found with at least one gunshot wound and later died at a local hospital.

JSO said early in the investigation, Anthony Beach, 21, Arron Sutherland, 21, Daisha Carney, 16, and Dylan Hallicy, 20, were believed to have been involved and interviewed by detectives. Following those interviews, JSO said Sutherland was arrested for possession of a firearm by a juvenile delinquent, but JSO continued to investigate for several months to build a case.

On Friday, JSO got arrest warrants.

Sutherland, who had already been booked into the Pre-Trial Detention Facility for the prior charge, was re-arrested for second-degree murder, attempted murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

The rest of suspects were the found and arrested.

Beach, Carney, and Hallicy were booked into jail and accused of second-degree murder and a 19-year-old woman was also arrested and accused of accessory after the fact.

No information about the circumstances of the shooting was released by police.
