JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The friends of a 31-year-old man who died after an incident in the Duval County Jail are demanding answers about what happened.

Charles Faggart died on Thursday, two days after Sheriff T.K. Waters announced he was removing nine correctional staff members following an investigation about the incident.
Stevon Davis said working at his food truck, Kettle & Spoon, the last few days have been keeping him sane and not constantly sad thinking about the loss of his friend.
Food brought him and Faggart together. He said they met when he owned a previous food business.
Davis said when he learned his friend, whom he called Charlie, died, he couldn’t believe it.
“A shocking moment, I’m like mouth dropped eyes, wide open, I’m like what the hell did he do?” Davis said.
The most heartbreaking part is that he said Charlie was working to turn his life around.
“He had just moved to a new apartment, got room for his son. He had sold his trailer and got a new job. Started working with Jonathan Streeter as one of his sous chefs over there. He’s a passionate guy and good at what he’s doing,” Davis said.
He said he’ll remember Charlie as a jokester and someone who loved his family.
He was a great passionate guy, he’s good at what he did," Davis said.
On Friday, an attorney on behalf of Faggart’s family released a statement saying in part:
“The family is in communication with representatives from the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, who have assured them that Charles’ case is a top priority and that answers will be provided as soon as they are able. In the meantime, the family remains focused on honoring Charles’ life and preserving his legacy.”
There will be a peaceful protest Sunday at the JSO Memorial Building at 1 p.m.
