Fatal motorcycle accident on Blanding Boulevard in Clay County, FHP says

CLAY COUNTY, Fla. – A 37-year-old man from Orange Park was killed Friday evening in a crash involving a motorcycle and an SUV on Blanding Boulevard, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash happened around 5:20 p.m. on State Road 21, just north of Ridgewood Avenue. Troopers say the motorcyclist was traveling north in the outside lane when an SUV heading south attempted to turn left into the Walmart parking lot.

FHP reports the motorcyclist failed to maintain a safe distance and struck the right side of the SUV. He was taken to Orange Park Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Troopers say he was wearing a helmet.

The crash remains under investigation.
