ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. – A 64-year-old man died early Saturday after his SUV struck the rear of a tractor-trailer on Interstate 95, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
The crash occurred about 12:55 a.m. on I‑95 south of County Road 210. A white Jeep Cherokee was traveling north in the outside travel lane behind a gray Freightliner semi with a trailer when it failed to maintain a safe following distance and struck the back of the trailer, the FHP said.

The Jeep driver was taken to a nearby hospital where he died, investigators said. The truck driver, a 38-year-old man from Pompano Beach, was not injured. Both drivers were reported to have been wearing seat belts.
FHP said the crash remains under investigation.
