GAINESVILLE, Fla. – A 23-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a collision with a tanker truck after losing control on State Road 24 in Alachua County early Wednesday morning, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers said around 2:40 a.m., the man was driving a motorcycle east on SR-24, just east of SW 56th Terrace, when he lost control and was thrown into the path of a tanker truck traveling west.

The report said the motorcyclist, who died at the scene, was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
The truck driver was uninjured, according to the report.
The crash is under investigation.
