ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. – New details have emerged in Friday night’s double homicide at a Ponte Vedra Walgreens, as arrest documents reveal the man accused allegedly confronted his girlfriend and another man over suspected infidelity before the shooting.
According to the arrest warrant from the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office, Christian Barrios, 32, went to the Walgreens along A1A on Friday night to confront his girlfriend and a man he believed she was in a relationship with.

The report said Barrios “immediately and frantically jumped out of their car and began walking” toward the woman and the man before multiple gunshots were heard.
Following the incident, Barrios contacted a witness who was his friend, while that person was speaking with law enforcement, the report said.

The arrest documents stated Barrios “appeared to be concerned with wellbeing, however, he did not make any admissions.” Barrios reportedly told the witness that if he met with law enforcement, “they would likely kill him and he did not want to go back to prison.”
The warrant further detailed how Barrios allegedly stole a BMW and attempted to evade law enforcement before being caught in Nassau County.
The double homicide has stunned residents in Ponte Vedra, an area known for its low crime rate.
“You usually don’t hear something like that happening out here. Very rare, very rare,” said one construction worker at a nearby project.
Leonard LaFera, who has lived in Ponte Vedra for five years, also expressed his disbelief. “It’s strange. First time [seeing something like this] to that scale,” LaFera said.
This fatal shooting occurred just over a block away from Mr. Chubby’s Wings, where another violent incident took place in 2023 when a man stabbed a teenager in a domestic incident.
The investigation into Friday night’s double homicide is ongoing.
