JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The track and field at Matthew Gilbert Middle School will be dedicated in honor of alumni “Bullet” Bob Hayes during a ceremony today at 5 p.m.
The dedication will celebrate Hayes’ legacy as a graduate of the school and his rise to become one of the most decorated athletes in history. Hayes, who graduated from Matthew Gilbert in 1960, earned both an Olympic gold medal and a Super Bowl ring during his storied career.

A short formal program featuring remarks from community partners and Bob Hayes Invitational Track Meet, Inc. officials will precede a ribbon-cutting ceremony to officially mark the dedication of the “Bullet” Bob Hayes Track & Field.
